Regression & models — on the R engine
Run linear and logistic regressions, ANOVA and more right in the tool. Select variables via stepwise, Lasso or Ridge — on an R engine, with no data export and not a line of R code. Made in Munich.
DataLion runs regressions and models directly on an R engine: linear, ordinal, Poisson, binomial, multinomial, negative binomial and quasi-Poisson, plus ANOVA and two-way ANOVA. You select variables via stepwise (forward/backward/both), Lasso or Ridge — with no data export and no R code.

From the linear model to count-data regression
DataLion covers the regression families that matter in market research: linear regression for metric outcomes, ordinal/ordered logit for scales, binomial and multinomial for categorical results, and Poisson, negative binomial and quasi-Poisson for count data.
You pick the right model, DataLion runs it on the R engine and reports the results right in the dashboard — without exporting data or writing R code.
- Linear regression for metric outcomes
- Ordinal/ordered logit regression for scales
- Binomial and multinomial for categorical results
- Poisson, negative binomial and quasi-Poisson for count data
Select variables automatically
Which predictors belong in the model? DataLion supports stepwise selection (forward, backward or both) plus Lasso and Ridge to turn many candidates into a parsimonious, stable model.
Lasso and Ridge regularize the coefficients — useful when many correlated variables are in play and a robust model is needed.
- Stepwise forward, backward and both
- Lasso for parsimonious models
- Ridge against multicollinearity
- Robust models from many candidates
ANOVA and two-way ANOVA
To compare means across groups, DataLion runs ANOVA and two-way ANOVA — including the interaction of two factors.
Together with the significance tests, you have the full inference toolkit in one place: from a simple column comparison to a multi-factor model.
- One-way ANOVA across groups
- Two-way ANOVA with interaction
- Consistent with the significance tests
- All on the same R engine
Model without a media break
Because the models run directly on your dataset in DataLion, there is no export to R, SPSS or Python and no re-importing of results. You model on the same weighted data you use to build crosstabs and charts.
In particular, the driver analysis (relative importance) builds on this model foundation to show which factors explain an outcome most.
- Models directly on the dataset — no export
- The same weighted data as for tables
- 20+ predefined procedures in one place
- The basis for driver analysis (relative importance)
